As May approaches, our thoughts turn to our 71 Shelton seniors and their graduation. We're excited to share the news that our graduation ceremony will take place Saturday, July 25th, 2:00 pm. The Class of 2020 selected this date, and we are hopeful that we can gather in our traditional setting on our Ward Campus. All is contingent, of course, with compliance to safe and appropriate distancing requirements at that time. Our seniors have had to adjust to so much these past six weeks, and we hope to end on a high note.
Our valedictorian is Fiona Dorward, and our salutatorian is Josie Hostin. We look forward to honoring these young ladies and the many accomplishments of the entire class.
Fiona has been accepted to St. John's College in Annapolis. At the heart of St. John's College undergraduate program is a liberal arts curriculum focused on the most important books and ideas of Western civilization. Following a reading list that includes many Great Books, all classes are conducted seminar-style, with faculty facilitating the discussion. Their liberal arts undergraduate program is a truly comprehensive education that is one of the most rigorous in America. Fiona would like to become a college professor upon college graduation.
Josie has been accepted to the Brown / RISD five-year dual degree program. She was accepted into Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design independently. Then both schools together chose 15 students to admit to an extremely competitive program. At the end of Josie's five-year program, she will graduate with a BA from Brown and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. This program will allow Josie to pursue her academic goals at Brown and continue her art studies at RISD.
