Summer, The Shelton Way

Summer, The Shelton Way offers a variety of academic and enrichment courses, the Scholars program, Speech Clinic courses, and sports camps for students in Early Childhood through 12th grade.

Summer, The Shelton Way programs feature Shelton School’s unique multisensory and discovery learning methods of instruction. Summer, The Shelton Way is open to Shelton and non-Shelton students with average to above average intelligence who may or may not have a language-based learning difference.

Summer School Classes: June 12th - June 30th
The hours for summer school are 9:00 - 12:00 for academic classes and 12:30 - 3:30 for enrichment classes; 3:30 - 5:30 for aftercare. Credit Class hours are 8:00 - 12:00 and 12:30 - 4:30. EC-4th students must be enrolled in the morning program in order to be eligible for afternoon enrichment classes.



Back to School Prep Week: July 31 - Aug. 4th
Looking for a refresher class for your child before the beginning of school? The Back to School Prep week is the class for your child! The Back to School Prep Week classes are designed to provide students with a refresher of reading, writing, and math skills before they return to school in the fall. The student to teacher ratio will be a maximum of 6 to 1. The skills classes are for Shelton students only and will be taught by Shelton teachers. To see a full description of the classes, go to “Classes.”  


Shelton Scholars:  June 12th - June 30th
Scholars is a remedial reading, writing and spelling program for individuals with learning differences. Each student is placed into small groups and receives two hours of tutoring by a trained paraprofessional and one hour of small group auditory discrimination training. All new students entering the Scholars program must be pre-screened for accurate placement. Screenings will need to be administered prior to the start of the program. At the completion of the program, parents will receive a checklist of skills introduced, student’s strengths and goals.

Sports: June - August
Sports camps and clinic for basketball, volleyball and conditioning will be held beginning in early June. 





Speech-Language and Hearing Program: June - July

  • Private speech therapy offered by appointment
  • Language Adventures Camp, ages 2-6, morning and afternoon sessions
  • Social Thinking Groups offered for all ages, preschool to college
