The Drowsy Chaperone

The Upper School Theatre Department presents The Drowsy Chaperone starting April 14th.

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical, The Drowsy Chaperone.  As the man in the chair looks on, this madcap musical comes to life in his apartment. Hailed by New York Magazine as "the perfect Broadway musical," The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre.  There are 58 Shelton students in cast, crew and band.

Appropriate for ages 10 and up, with parental guidance.

NOTE: This performance is performed indoors in Shelton’s Black Box Theatre. There will be limited seating due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Audience members are required to wear a mask at all times during the evening.

Show dates: April 14-17, 2021
