Please note that four items are required for submittal of this application and should be completed prior to beginning the process of filling out this form:

1. Personal Statement
Write a compelling personal statement, not to exceed 1000 words, explaining your reasons for requesting financial assistance. The following points should be included in the personal statement within the context of the age range you expect to study.

  • An explanation of your financial need
  • Why you want to become a Montessori teacher
  • A description of yourself as someone able to relate in developmentally appropriate, caring was to children/students, including ways in which a teacher builds relationships

2. Three Letters of Recommendation
You will need the names of three individuals who are recommending you specifically for scholarship eligibility. They will need to write a letter of recommendation to include evidence of your suitability to work with children of the age range of your choice, and reasons why you should be a recipient of assistance.

4. Acceptance into the SMT Program
A prior application and acceptance into one of the six SMT Credentialing Courses (including Admin) beginning in June is required for consideration of a scholarship.
