Language Milestones

Children vary in their development of speech and language skills; however, there is a natural progression for mastering the skills of language and a normalized timetable. A checklist of milestones for normal development of speech and language skills in children are included as a reference only. These milestones help parents and professionals determine if a child is on track in his development.

Keep in mind that each child develops differently and that an individual child may develop more quickly in one area that in another. We hope that this information is useful in understanding a child's development of speech and language.
