| SHELTON ETHICS SYMPOSIUM Eleventh- and twelfth-grade students attended Shelton's 21st Ethics Symposium, "Evolving Ethical Standards in the Digital Age," today. Activities included guided discussions, small group exercises and panel discussions with guest presenters. Keynote speakers and panelists engaged students with lessons learned from real-world professional experiences. Leona Allen (above left), Deputy Publisher and Chief Talent and Diversity Officer at The Dallas Morning News, gave the charge for the day and spoke with students about the importance of ethical decision-making in their personal lives. Kristin Kendrick (above right), Case Manager at Cafe Momentum, was the keynote speaker. She spoke about the value of second chances. Cafe Momentum has changed the lives of more than 1,000 teens by employing and providing life-skills training to a staff of young women and men exiting the Dallas County juvenile detention facility. MIDDLE SCHOOL CAKE WALK RAISES MONEY FOR PUDDIN' POP The Middle School Student Council sponsored a cake walk that raised $3,789 for Puddin' Pop, an organization that supports children in foster care by providing new arrivals with care packages. Third- through eighth-grade students participated in the cake walk. Congratulations! |

SHELTON DAISY TROOP MAKES A DIFFERENCE Members of the Shelton Daisy Troop put together and delivered 26 hygiene kits for teenage boys in foster care through Dallas CASA. The girls also made cards to include in each kit. Members of the troop are collecting books in the Lower School office. The books will be donated to the Shelton library. WYATT ROGERS WINS TEXAS WINTER SERIES Sixth-grader Wyatt Rogers competed in the 2023 Texas Winter Series, a nationally recognized qualifier series. Wyatt raced all five races, finishing third in the first race, second in the second and third races, and first in the fourth and fifth races. He finished the overall series in first place. Wyatt was interviewed in front of about 1,000 people. "We credit his ability to calmly and clearly conduct this interview to all the support he has received at Shelton," says his mom, Kristin Rogers. "Thank you, Shelton, for helping Wyatt to shine and be his very best in all circumstances!" |
