BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT SHELTON This month, Shelton Libraries celebrate Black History Month by highlighting books and films that help us celebrate and reflect on Black history and culture. Students learn about the contributions of African-American artists, musicians, inventors and scientists, educators, athletes and more. | | FOURTH-GRADER CALEB DAVIS CHOSEN FOR VIRTUAL AUTHOR VISIT Congratulations to fourth-grader Caleb Davis, who was selected for a Scholastic Book Club virtual author visit with Tami Charles and Bryan Collier, the author and illustrator of We are Here, on Feb. 22. Caleb was chosen because of his powerful observations and questions as well as for his respect for the author's writing. | KATE WILLIAMS SELECTED FOR THE DALLAS ARBORETUM'S TEEN LEADERSHIP COUNCIL Congratulations to tenth-grader Kate Williams for being selected as a member of the Dallas Arboretum's Teen Leadership Council. In her role, Kate assists the Dallas Arboretum by organizing volunteers and helping with special events such as Dallas Blooms, the Christmas village and the Children's Garden. She is an active Shelton student who plays the trombone in band, is in the drumline and works on the set crew of Shelton's theater productions. She also is an avid artist. |
