FACTS TUITION ASSISTANCE We would like to remind you that the FACTS tuition assistance application for the 2023-2024 school year will be available to you as part of your online re-enrollment beginning Feb. 3, 2023. In order for an application to be considered, the enrollment process must be completed, and your FACTS payment account set up. The tuition assistance application is due by Friday, Feb. 24. If you plan to apply for assistance, your application MUST BE submitted by this date. FREEDOM FROM CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY: NEW PARENT SUPPORT MEETING Our New Parent Support Meetings continue Thursday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m., in the Black Box Theatre, with information about our drug and alcohol prevention program, Prevention Solutions. Prevention Solutions™ is part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and is the leading international nonprofit provider of school-based substance abuse prevention services. More information can be found at this link. This meeting will be in-person. The presenter will be John Tummon, Senior Prevention Specialist & Supervising Field Officer with Prevention Solutions. Mr. Tummon has been affiliated with Prevention Solutions since 2011. Freedom from Chemical Dependency is the fifth required meeting in our series for new Shelton parents. All Shelton parents are welcome to attend. Shelton has been partnering with Freedom From Chemical Dependency since 1999 to create a positive program of prevention. |

SHELTON ALUMNI PANEL Upper School students and eighth-grade parents benefitted from the Alumni Panel Jan. 5. Seven Shelton alumni offered advice on transitioning from high school to college with tips on receiving accommodations, staying organized, getting involved and resiliency. | NEWSWEEK SPOTLIGHTS FOURTH-GRADER SUSIE RUTLEDGE FOR HELPING A NEIGHBOR Fourth-grader Susie Rutledge used her writing skills to help a neighbor. When she and her friends were concerned about a neighbor, they wrote her a note. The neighbor was so touched she sent the note to her daughter, who posted it on Reddit, where it got so much attention that a Newsweek reporter wrote a story about it. Congratulations, Susie! | |

STANDUPLD PRESENTS "STANDUP AND SHINE" StandUpLD, a nonprofit support network for parents and educators seeking resources to support and inspire children with learning differences, offers "StandUp and Shine" Jan. 28. In this program, students 6-10 years of age with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and other related learning differences will explore their personal strengths and weaknesses and develop the knowledge and confidence they need to stand up and shine. A student application must be completed for this event. Parents will be notified via email if their student is accepted into the program.
