CHECK OUT THE NEW MONDAY SHIRT FOR 2022-2023 Each year, Middle School teacher Courtney Dios continues a Shelton tradition, guiding students to create a design for our Monday Shirt. The design winners take a field trip to a local design firm, Kendall Creative, for a tour and a round table discussion leading to the final product. Thank you to Kendall Creative for making this opportunity possible for our students each year and to Band Director Ken Utz for helping this year. Congratulations to students Zachary Cole, Jack Henry Grace, Ethan Gulden and Luke Noller, who helped create the design for the 2022-2023 Monday Shirt in memory of Will Holmes, a Shelton ninth grader who passed away in November 2021. All four of these students said that they met Will "accidentally" and he became one of the most important people in their lives. Will was a student that encompasses what Shelton is all about. He was kind, enthusiastic about learning, active in drumline, was never afraid to try new things, always willing to help out with any event at school and was a genuinely all around great person. When new students joined Shelton, Will and his mother would reach out to their parents and plan to meet on a Sunday for dinner with other new families. Will wanted to make sure every new student had a familiar face and friend in the hallway at school as they got acquainted. "We decided to design a shirt that honored Will and how he gave back to our community everyday," says Dios. "We made sure we included a fun fact, which was one of Will's trademarks. As we walk down the hallways each Monday morning as students wear this shirt, I hope it reminds us that kindness can go a long way and truly make an impact on each and every one of us." The shirts can be purchased in the Charger Corral at the beginning of next school year and may be worn every Monday throughout the school year. |
