| 2022 VALEDICTORIAN MACKENZIE DUPRÉ Mackenzie Dupré began attending Shelton in the sixth grade. During high school, she has served as a member and Vice President of the National Honor Society and a Student Council representative. In addition, she has been involved in Shelton Theatre and the Performing Arts Club. Mackenzie will attend Trinity University, where she plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree in psychology as a pathway to a career in occupational therapy after graduate school. She is also considering either majoring or minoring in Communications and English. "Shelton School helped me overcome the sense of inferiority that I felt when I became aware of my learning differences and replaced those insecurities with a newfound confidence. As I matured from the lonely shy girl to the more self-assured woman I am today, Shelton taught me to view my learning differences as a reason to persevere rather than something to be ashamed of, and I grew as an individual each time I mustered the courage to challenge myself and potentially face disappointment. I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful people I have met at Shelton School, students and faculty alike, as well as my parents and the rest of my family, for helping me become the person I am today." |
