PARENT CONFERENCES Parent Conferences start in the afternoon of Oct. 20 for grades 5–12 and will continue Oct. 21 and 22 for all grades. Having our teachers host your conferences virtually last year proved to be so successful, it turned out to be a "pandemic adjustment" that was beneficial in many ways. We saw record attendance, had fewer appointment changes, found that both parents could attend, and many parents appreciated not having the drive time to and from the school. Therefore, we have decided to continue conferences in a virtual setting. The deadline for scheduling in-person conferences has passed. Your Division Office will confirm conference times this week. As a reminder, if your child is in 5th–12th grade, they will take part in the conference with you.
Early dismissal Oct. 20 for grades 5th-12th for parent conferences. Grades EC-4th will have regular dismissal times.
SHELTON NEW PARENT SUPPORT NIGHT OCT. 7: SIMULATIONS OF LEARNING DIFFERENCES We're asking one parent from each new Shelton family to attend this hands-on simulation of the difficulties and frustrations encountered daily by people who have learning differences. The event, which is Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., will inform you about the causes, characteristics and instruction for processing disorders. This is the second in a series of six required Parent Support meetings for new 2021-22 Shelton parents.
New Shelton parents should have received a Sign-Up Genius from Laura Berend. Please email Laura if you did not receive it or if you have questions. (Remember to check your SPAM.)
PLEASE REGISTER BY THE END-OF-DAY WEDNESDAY, Oct. 6!
This meeting is for parents only — childcare is not provided. The program takes place in a variety of meeting spaces in our building. Masks are required.
Important: Simulations of Learning Differences will be presented to last year's 2020-21 new parents on Thursday, Nov. 4. Details to come!
UPPER ELEMENTARY STICKS TOGETHER In UE everything is better together. For the next two weeks, students will take turns reading a quote about what togetherness means to them. The project culminates with a togetherness chain made by linking their favorite quotes together. These weeks of thinking about what it means to be "together" culminate this Friday at the Togetherness Picnic. The picnic includes students enjoying team building games and the singing of the school song. The link of quotes will hang in the UE hallway all next week.
