PARENT CONFERENCES Parent Conferences are scheduled to start in the afternoon on Oct. 20 for grades 5–12 and will continue Oct. 21 and 22 for all grades. Having our teachers host your conferences virtually last year proved to be so successful, it turned out to be a "pandemic adjustment" that was beneficial in many ways. We saw record attendance, had fewer appointment changes, found that both parents could attend, and many parents appreciated not having the drive time to and from the school. Therefore, we have decided to continue conferences in a virtual setting. However, if you would like a face-to-face conference, please contact the designated person listed below by 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, so we can accommodate your request.
Your Division Office will confirm conference times this week. As a reminder, if your child is in 5th–12th grade, they will take part in the conference with you.
SHELTON NEW PARENT SUPPORT NIGHT OCT. 7: SIMULATIONS OF LEARNING DIFFERENCES We're asking one parent from each new Shelton family to attend this hands-on simulation of the difficulties and frustrations encountered daily by people who have learning differences. The event, which is Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., will inform you about the causes, characteristics and instruction for processing disorders. This is the second in a series of six required Parent Support meetings for new 2021-22 Shelton parents.
First-time new Shelton parents should receive a Sign Up Genius from Laura Berend by the end of today, Sept. 29. Please email Laura if you did not receive it or if you have questions. (Remember to check your SPAM.)
This meeting is for parents only — childcare is not provided. The program takes place in a variety of meeting spaces in our building. Masks are required.
Important: Simulations of Learning Differences will be presented to last year's 2020-21 new parents on Thursday, Nov. 4. Details to come!
