July 28, 2021 COVID POLICY UPDATE We continue to monitor the ever-changing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. We will finalize our 2021-22 policy in the next few weeks and will share the plan with you in early August. As always, our goal is to keep students and staff members safe, healthy and on campus. We appreciate your support and we hope to return to as close to normal as possible.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL SKILLS CLASSES It was exciting to have 67 students on campus for Back-to-School Skills classes this week. The six skills classes, which were offered to Shelton students in the 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th and 9th/10h grades, are designed to provide students with a refresher of reading, writing, and math skills before they return to school in August. The student-to-teacher ratio is a maximum of 6 to 1 and the classes are taught by Shelton teachers. Shout out to Patricia Gallaher, Assistant Head of Middle School and Director of Summer School, for leading the effort and to the 11 teachers involved, including Susmita Sarma, Nicole Miller, Meredith Mathews, Leigh Taylor, Eden Moore, Sara Harris, Lauren Sanders, Georgana Jinks, Dave Fletcher, Shelly Whitfield and Jane Mitchell.
TEACHER TECHNOLOGY TRAINING The technology staff offered Cornerstone Courses to teachers over the summer. In all, 188 training sessions in 8 topics will have been completed by 69 different teachers, representing 430 total hours of training.
