PRIDE AND GRATITUDE FOR THE SHELTON COMMUNITY: A HOLIDAY MESSAGE FROM SUZANNE STELL
Dear Shelton Parents,
This is our last ePost for the year 2020. The next one will come to you in 2021. I think we might agree that we're all eager to write and welcome the year, 2021. Much of this past year could be considered a gap year of different sorts – not exactly the one described above, nor in the pejorative sense of others who consider the COVID pandemic year's consequences to mean that a year has been lost, or taken away from learning. On the contrary.
With the recent arrival of the COVID-19 vaccinations, we can celebrate and step forward with hope as we begin to close the gap on the pandemic. We will need patience and perseverance to take our next steps together. We are grateful to you for your faith, flexibility and forward-looking vision.
As we said at Thanksgiving, please celebrate safely with your family and recall the CDC's recommendations to stay at home and participate in small gatherings. If you are traveling, be sure to check the health and safety protocols for your destination prior to leaving. Many places require quarantines once you arrive. The CDC has slightly changed their travel guidelines for international travel. They now have 4 levels of risk. Click here for a link to the website. Click on your destination for more information. If you are traveling internationally, the CDC does recommend up to a 10-day quarantine period upon your return. If you travel domestically, and you are with people outside of your usual bubble or travel by plane, we ask you to consider quarantining for up to 10 days upon your return. Click here to go to the CDC page with recommendations for domestic travel.

At the end of our winter break, please help all in our community by keeping your children at home if there is any possibility of exposure to positive COVID cases. Our goal remains the same – to continue with in-person learning for our students by keeping our community – teachers, students and their families healthy.
If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or is a close contact to someone that tests positive for COVID-19 over the break, please notify Eve Herman. You can email her at eherman@shelton.org or use the SchoolPass Wellness app.
Thank you, parents, for your extraordinary generosity through Holiday Happiness with our entire staff. In addition to your support already throughout the school year, this was above and beyond. With a donation of $83,701, you helped us make merry today at our staff holiday party.
Shelton Pride! Gratefully,
Suzanne Stell
