PORTAL PROJECT GOES LIVE! This has been quite an exciting week. First, our container (AKA portal) arrived on campus this past Monday morning. While the weather was a bit gloomy, spirits were not. On hand, with big smiles, were Suzanne Stell, Courtney Dios and Christy Fowler. All the months of planning started coming to fruition. Only a day later the portal was in use, with the first of Shelton's classes getting to connect to students across the globe.
Zach Paxton and Tobin Knox's geography classes went first. Says Upper School faculty member Zach Paxton, "THIS WAS INCREDIBLE! This morning, my class was able to speak to other students from GAZA CITY. This experience opened up all of our eyes to how different and similar our world is compared to one of the most conflicted areas in the world. The other students could not be more grateful to speak to us, and it was an amazing experience." Next Samantha Franklin and Dan Hanson's physics classes hooked up with students in la Paz.
All of our students will get to participate at some level in this experience. Stay tuned - it's going to be great for all involved.
Shelton again thanks The Moody Foundation for making this possible at Shelton. Faculty members Christy Fowler and Courtney Dios are spearheading the portal experience at Shelton, and our Technology Team is doing its part to make all the connections happen. Curator Claudia Arnette will be coordinating schedules and the overall activities.
