18th ANNUAL JUMPATHON IS TODAY -

CREATING AWARENESS ABOUT SADS

The Brian Price Jumpathon takes place for Lower School, Upper Elementary, and sixth-grade students on Feb. 13th.  The event creates awareness about the heart condition called Sudden Death Arrhythmia Syndrome (SADS), which is an electrical malfunction of the heart. Middle School Student Council began selling candy and stuffed animal puppies on January 28, and proceeds from then to February 11 will go to the SADS Foundation. All students and staff may wear jeans February 13. Voluntary donations of $5 (not required to wear jeans) will go to SADS.  Brian was Betty Glasheen's grandson, who died of SADS at age 15. Today, the gene Brian had can be identified, so no one need die of SADS.  Our Jumpathon ties in perfectly with February, national heart health month. Donations to SADS may be given to a student's advisor.

Parents - please read more about the warning signs of SADS.  Most cardiac arrhythmias and structural defects that may cause sudden death in the young are treatable.  Many of these conditions are hereditary in nature, so numerous family members may need to be tested.

SHELTON PRIDE!
