THE ANNUAL FUND REACHES A MILESTONE ON ITS WAY TO $900,000

 

The Co-Chairs of Shelton's Annual Fund - Jennifer Dix and Holly Vitullo - are thrilled to announce that the 2018/2019 Annual Fund has achieved

90% of its monetary goal of $900,000!

 

"We are so grateful to the Shelton Family for its generous giving and support of the Annual Fund," said Jennifer.

 

"Our next challenge," added Holly, "is to ensure we have 100% participation by our Shelton families"

 

The Annual Fund has achieved a participation rate of approximately 50%, but the goal is 100%.

COLLECTION BEGINS TODAY Box Tops for Education - The Spring Collection - It is time to bundle your Box Tops for Education. We gather the Box Tops and turn them in for a cash reward. Please group 10 or 20 (or more) Box Tops and seal them in a Ziplock or an envelope. Or, tape/paste the Box Tops to a collection sheet - click here. Beginning February 5, 2019, deposit your Box Tops in collection boxes at LS and UE entrances. Deadline for turning in Box Tops is February 22, 2019.  Questions: click here.


February 5, 2019 - Tuesday

TODAY Learning Differences Reframed - Shelton families are invited to attend a presentation at the Highland Park Middle School on February 5, 2019. The speaker is Jonathan Mooney, the author of Learning Differences Reframed - the Paradox of Dyslexia, ADHD and More. The event is jointly sponsored by the Park Cities Learning Differences Association, Decoding Dyslexia-Park Cities and the Highland Park Independent School District. The time is 7:00 pm and the address is 3555 Granada Drive, Highland Park 75205 (Middle School Auditorium.)

 

February 7, 2019 - Thursday

New Parents Meeting - This New Parents Meeting will focus on the topic of Math, Science and Social Sciences. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm in the Dining Hall. The teaching staff at Shelton will conduct the meeting. While the meeting is mandatory for all parents who are new to Shelton, it is open to all Shelton parents. No childcare is provided. No RSVP is required.

Wine Donations for the Stampede Wine Pull - The Co-Chairs of the Stampede Wine Pull are seeking donations of red, white and sparking wines (minimum bottle value = $30). These donated bottles will be used in the Wine Pull at the Stampede on March 30, 2019. The Wine Pull is always a popular item at the Stampede. Please bring your bottles of wine to the SPA office during the parent teacher conferences in February.

The Spring Musical - Into the Woods

Shelton Theatre Arts present Stephen Sondheim's musical creation Into the Woods. The musical was the winner of three Tony Awards (Best Actress, Best Original Score and Best Original Play). The New York Times wrote: "It is funny, seductive, clever, challenging and so much more. Does "Happily Ever After" really exist?" Performances (in the Commons) will be presented:

Saturday - February 16 - 7:00 pm

Sunday - February 17 - 2:00 pm

Pre-Theatre Dinner - Into the Woods

The Shelton Parents' Association in conjunction with Shelton Theatre Arts hosts a Pre-Theatre Dinner before the Friday evening production of Into the Woods. The dinner will be offered by Spice of Life catering and will begin at 5:00 pm. Enjoy a delicious dinner with your family and friends and, thereafter, journey into Sondheim's vision of Happily Ever After. Shelton Theatre Arts presents the Spring Musical Into the Woods - Stephen Sondheim's popular Broadway creation which debuted in 1987 to rave reviews. The Washington Post wrote that Sondheim's lyrics were "brilliant .. and continue to remind us of the cautionary words: Be Careful What You Wish For".
