HAPPENING THIS WEEK

September 11, 2018 - Tuesday

Shelton Parents' Association Kick-Off Coffee and Fall General Meeting. Shelton Dining Hall @ 8:45 am to 10:00 am - catered by SAGE. ALL parents are welcome. Learn how you can support Shelton and become more connected to the school.

September 12, 2018 - Wednesday

Shelton Junior Charger Cheer/Dance Clinic @ 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm in the Shelton Dining Hall and Gym. The Cheer/Dance Clinic is for ages 5 - 12; the Dance/Drill Team Clinic is for grades 6 - 8. Parents should arrive at 5:15 pm to observe the "Show-Off" and pick-up students. Clinic participants will have the opportunity to perform during the half-time of two Shelton Charger football games. The first performance opportunity is on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Prince of Peace Christian School. The second performance opportunity will be on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at The Ford Center at the STAR in Frisco. Cost for the Clinic is $50/ student if you register on or before Tuesday, September 11, 2018 ($60/ student for payment on the day of clinic). September 13, 2018 - Thursday

Shelton Open House. During the Open House, you will follow your student's schedule, meet the teachers and learn more about the curriculum. For grades EC through 5th, the start time is 6:00 pm (ending at 6:45 pm). For grades 6th through 12th, the start time is 7:00 pm (ending at 7:45 pm). The evening is designed for parents. Remember parking should be in Shelton's lot, not across Hillcrest.

September 14, 2018 - Friday

Teachers in-service - No school.

Shelton Football Tailgate Party. Prince of Peace Christian School from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Address is 4004 Midway Road, Carrollton 75007. Half-time performances by Shelton Junior Chargers Cheerleaders and Dancers. Food and drink available for purchase. For ALL students and parents!

September 18, 2018 - Tuesday

Kick-Off meeting for the Stampede. Attention all parents! Please attend our first Stampede meeting on Tuesday, September 18th at 8:30 am in the Shelton cafeteria. Coffee will be served. The Stampede is the largest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds from the Stampede benefit the Shelton Parents' Association. The online auction begins on January 28, 2019 and goes through February 10, 2019. Thereafter, mark your calendars for the Stampede event (featuring a LIVE auction and a silent auction) which will be held on March 30, 2019 at the Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum. September 21 - 23, 2018 - Weekend

Dads' Group Camp-Out at Sky Ranch. This fun annual event is for all Shelton dads (can be a dad, or a special uncle, brother or friend) and their children in grades EC through 5th. It's a great opportunity to leave the city and enjoy time with your child/children and other dads in their grade level. Age appropriate siblings are welcome! RSVP now, since space is limited to 150 people. Cost is $150 per person. Price includes cabin fees and meals. This year dinner will be served on Friday so there is no need to make separate plans. September 27, 2018 - Thursday

SPA Food Truck. The SPA is kicking-off the first of its food trucks on October 4, 2018 with KONA ICE! Food trucks will be at Shelton on October 4, 2018 (Kona Ice), December 7, 2018 (Chick-fil-A), March 22, 2019 (Susie Cakes) and May 7, 2019 (Tikiz). October 4, 2018 - Thursday

NEW INFORMATION! Volleyball and Cross Country Senior Night and Shelton Tailgate Party - At Shelton, for ALL students and parents! Tailgate from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Pre-Game Ceremony at 6:15 pm, with game at 6:30 pm. FUN with face painting and music. Food will be available for purchase - Chick-fil-A, Tikiz, and Triple-Ts Popcorn.

October 5, 2018 - Friday

October 15, 2018 - Monday

NEW! BOOSTERTHON - For grades EC through 5th - the Boosterthon Pep Rally kicks-off! This year we introduce a new program "MindSpark Mystery Lab". This is a science-infused mystery theme all about solving problems. Boosterthon begins with the Pep Rally and concludes with the FUN RUN on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 (parents are welcome to attend the Fun Run). All funds raised go to the Shelton Scholarship Fund. October 18, 2018 – Thursday

NEW INFORMATION! Dads' Group Poker Tournament – The 2nd annual Dads' Group Poker Tournament will be held at Cawley Real Estate Investors, 14555 Dallas Parkway, Dallas 75254. Dealers start @ 7:30 pm. Limited to 150 people. Full bar and buffet. Players are $100/ person, non-players are $50/ person (includes bar and buffet). Prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. November 10, 2018 - Saturday

Princess Ball - Shelton girls in grades EC through 5th (and their sisters) are invited to the Princess Ball at Winter Wonderland with their fathers (or brother, uncle, special friend). The evening's festivities at Shelton School (beginning @ 5:30 pm) will include a seated dinner, DJ and dancing and a photo opportunity. The dinner menu will include gluten-free and Kosher options. Volunteer Opportunities - Corral

We need volunteers to work in the Charger Corral school spirit store. The Corral depends upon volunteers to be successful. Working in the Corral is fun, easy, and a great way to get to know other parents, students and the Shelton staff.The money raised in the Corral helps to support the school. NEW INFORMATION! The Upper School Homecoming Dance - To be held at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive, Bank of America Room, Richardson, TX 75082. The dance is from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets are $40/ student and must be purchased by Noon on October 5, 2018. No tickets will be sold at the door. To purchase tickets, please click here. Parents are responsible for picking up their students at the Eisemann Center after the dance.

NEW INFORMATION! 9th Grade Homecoming Dinner @ Northwood Country Club, 6524 Alpha Road, Dallas 75240 - 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This is an optional FUN group event for those in 9th grade only; dates are welcomed but not necessary. Cost is $60/ student. Dinner Theme & Dress: The Great Gatsby - Boys (jacket/tie, khaki pants) and Girls (Party dress). Parents must bring students to the Northwood Country Club for dinner; Shelton will provide transportation from the Northwood Country Club to the Upper School Homecoming Dance. Students will be picked-up by parents at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive, Richardson at 11:00 pm (at the conclusion of the Upper School Homecoming Dance.)
