Texas Education Freedom Accounts Information

Shelton is participating in TEFA based on the rules currently published by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. This program, administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, is designed to help families access funds for eligible education-related expenses beginning in the 2026–27 school year. For families of students who learn differently, TEFA may offer financial support that helps offset the cost of specialized education.

Shelton’s participation in TEFA reflects our commitment to helping families access the resources and opportunities that best support children with learning differences. As the largest independent school in the world for intelligent students with learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, auditory processing disorders and speech-language disorders, we are a resource for families of students who learn differently.

TEFA Application and Award Information

The Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) application period for the 2026-2027 school year closed March 31, 2026.

According to TEFA, the Texas Comptroller has completed the initial distribution of awards. Families whose enrollment was confirmed by June 15 received the first installment of their TEFA funding on July 1.

Additional awards may become available throughout the summer as families decline or opt out of the program. Families selected from the waitlist will receive instructions from Odyssey to complete the enrollment process and select their participating school.

Families that were not able to apply this year, but are interested in applying for the 2027-28 school year can indicate early interest on this form. Students who are currently on the waitlist as well as those who did not apply at all this year may be included on this form.
