Upper School
Day in the Life of an Upper School Student
Some Quotes from Upper School Students:
“Shelton feels like family!”
“Shelton was my home, and I was well prepared for college.”
And then comment we hear so often from parents, “Shelton saved my child!”
Shelton Upper School has a vital and active high school community. What makes Shelton unique?
We teach the ways our students learn. Students have the opportunity for remediation in areas impacted by their learning differences with our reading programs and therapeutic instructional strategies. They also have the opportunity to excel in their academic strength areas with elective and honors classes. Our smaller classes allow for individualized attention and help.
Our students have opportunities to build on their strengths and interests and develop their leadership skills in the arts, athletics, community service, Student Council, and other clubs, ranging from American Sign Language to Recycling, there is something for everyone!
We provide a comprehensive college advising program which includes working to help each student have the appropriate accommodations when taking the SAT and ACT tests. Students in the class of 2011 were offered merit scholarships totaling $1,976,100.
The quality of our high school program is proven each year by the success of our graduates in college. We celebrate the growth and achievements of our students!
