Montessori Applied To Children at Risk - Level 1 (Beginning)

Course Fee: $2600

The goal of this workshop is to understand the specific needs of children at
risk for learning differences and provide specific strategies to the registrant for
matching the Montessori educational method to those needs.

The content of the workshop includes:

  • An Overview of Learning Disabilities
  • Understanding The At-Risk Child
  • Applications of the Montessori Method and Techniques
  • Oral and Written Language Program
  • Social Skills Development/Discipline
  • Pratical Life, Sensorial and Mathematics for the At-Risk Child
  • Practicum including observation and participation in environments with students who have learning differences

July 7 – 16, 2014 (no class on Sunday) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Montessori Applied To Children at Risk - Level 2 (Advanced)

(DBU Course EDUC 5347)
Course Fee: $2600

The goal of this workshop is to continue the study in greater depth of the child
with learning differences or at-risk for learning differences.

The content of the Advanced Course Level includes:

  • Models of Support for Learning Different Children
  • Testing and Referral
  • Diagnosis and progress testing
  • Using Montessori presentations for diagnostic and remedial analysis
  • Record keeping
  • Empowering for Self-Control
  • Choices, A Social Skills Curriculum
  • Continuation of Written Language Program
  • Organization and Study Skills
  • Practicum including observation of and participation in environments with students who have learning differences
  • Case studies developmentally based upon observation, interaction, and review of testing
