This course is taught at the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia located on the Middle Tennessee State University campus.

Schedule:
(Registration deadline 9/11/2017)
Fall 2017 - 5 days: October 2 -6 (40 hours)
Fall 2017 - 4 days: 11/28 & 29, 12/12 & 13 (32 hours)
Spring 2018 - 6 days: 1/25 & 26, 2/22 & 23, 4/19 & 20 (48 hours)
Total 15 days (120 hours)

Cost including Materials and Practicum: $2500

Course Description: SARA addresses basic language skills for reading, writing and spelling. Participants are trained in the use of a multisensory structured language program for students with specific language disabilities such as dyslexia and related disorders. SARA is based on the Alphabetic Phonics approach and utilizes the Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia materials developed at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.

This course satisfies all requirements at the Teaching Level and prepares the participant for the Alliance National Registration Exam at the Dyslexia Practitioner Level.

Prerequisite: A Bachelor's degree is required for Teaching Level certification.

Practicum Requirements:The following are required for Teaching Level certification and are included in the cost of this course:

  • 60 hours of supervised practicum
  • 5 demonstration lessons
  • Minimum 9-month period
