Useful Information:
Tuition Refund Program - The Tuition Refund Program will refund 60% of the unused portion of the paid tuition should you decide to withdraw your student from the school for any reason, and 75% for medical reasons. The Tuition Refund Program is an optional plan unless your Division Head has made it a condition on your student's contract. Cost is approximately $200 per year and is listed on your tuition billing statement. To receive a refund you would have paid for the Tuition Refund Program when your tuition was paid and your student must have attended at least 14 consecutive days of school. Please contact Mitzi Freeman in the Business Office to begin the refund process.
Requests for Financial Aid -Shelton has a limited amount of financial aid available. The source of this money is income from an endowment fund specifically for financial aid and gifts from the Parent's Association, Annual Fund and individuals. Shelton makes financial aid decisions solely on the basis of need. The school uses the School and Student Service for Financial Aid, SSSFA, in Princeton, New Jersey, to analyze need requests. Applications for Financial Aid must be made directly to SSFA. The applications are made on line through the NAIS website, www.sss.nais.org . To access the application click Enter Now on the right side of the page under Website for Families. Then on the left side of the page click on Apply for Financial Aid. On the next page click Start a new PFS. This will lead you to the sign in/set up page. The website is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. The deadline for application by returning families for the 2010-2011 school year is April 6, 2010. New families will be considered if funds are available. Financial Aid awards average $2,000 but may vary based on donations for the year. The Financial Aid committee meets the first week of May, and notifications are sent by the third week in May. For further information contact Mitzi Freeman, at (972) 774-1772 ext. 236. SmartTuition - Shelton participates with SmartTuition to help our families with tuition payments. SmartTuition allows several options for tuition payment at minimal cost to the family. The options included: 1. 10 monthly payments beginning in April, 2010 and continuing to January, 2011 made either by credit card, check or bank draft. An additional fee of $400 is charged for the 10 month term, $40 per payment. 2. 4 quarterly payments beginning April, 2010 and ending January, 2011 made either by credit card, check or bank draft. An additional fee of $160 is charged for the 4 month term, $40 per payment 3. 2 semi annual payments in June, 2010 and January, 2011 made either by credit card, check or bank draft. An additional fee of $80 is charged for the 2 payment period, $40 per payment 4. A one-time tuition payment on your credit card. SmartTuition can process credit card payments for tuition. They charge a discount rate of 2.5% for the service in addition to the $40 per payment fee. The 10 month payment plan begins in April. If you are going to use this plan you need to submit your information to SmartTuition on or before March 15, 2010. Please note, all tuition payment plans will carry the $40 per payment fee for the 2010-2011 school year. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE: WE ARE NOT DOING ENROLLMENT ON LINE. ENROLLMENT FORMS WILL BE MAILED FROM THE SCHOOL ON FEBRUARY 19, 2010. AFTER THAT DATE CONTACT THE BUSINESS OFFICE, mfreeman@shelton.org, TO REQUEST A FORM. Once you have made arrangements with SmartTuition please make sure that all tuition payments are sent to them and not to the school. The 2009-2010 school year was our first experience with SmartTuition. We have, through trial and error and your patience, discovered just how the system works and what we need to do to make the process easier.
