HAPPENING THIS WEEK!
GOT TICKETS?  GOT DINNER RESERVATIONS FOR FRIDAY NIGHT?

Come be awed by the set, singers and band - you're gonna love it!  Our Commons is buzzing with excitement after a special performance this morning for students.  Our talented ensemble can't wait to perform the musical again, and lucky for all, there are 4 times you can catch the musical. And remember, new this year is a pre-show dinner on Friday night (only).  All reservations available online.  P.S. This all could be a wonderful Valentine's treat.

BRIAN PRICE JUMPATHON TAKES PLACE FEB. 14

Twenty-five years ago a group of scientists at the University of Utah discovered the first gene for Long QT Syndrome (LQTS). This was a landmark development in the study of unexplained sudden death.  These dedicated colleagues started the Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS) Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization that seeks to create awareness and advocacy and support research concerning SADS.

Our Brian Price Jumpathon will help educate others, so that they do not have to die from SADS. Shelton staff and students may participate by wearing jeans and a Shelton spirit shirt on Valentine's Day.  (Check with your division office for specifics for students.) A suggested (optional) donation of $5 for the Jeans Day will be sent directly to the SADS Foundation to promote awareness and prevention. Betty Glasheen (Development Dept.) will collect donations and present them to SADS.

Note:  Brian Price died 19 years ago from "unknown causes" until this team discovered the Long QT gene.  Brian was a 15-year-old at Cistercian Prep School when he died.  He was the son to Katharine Martin, former Shelton teacher, and grandson to our own Betty Glasheen (Development Dept.).

Our auction committee is down the road on its journey.  The ONLINE AUCTION opens Feb. 20th - watch for more details!

TODAY IS TEXAS DYSLEXIA AWARENESS DAY

G-g Shryer (Upper Elementary faculty member) is representing Shelton today at a special event at our State Capitol, alongside others like Christine Chien, an assistive technology specialist who has worked with us at Shelton. We are supporting parent-driven activities to promote awareness across the state.  At Shelton we know plenty about dyslexia and have been involved with major legislative initiatives throughout our 41 years.  And remember, through events like these, we're CHANGING THE WAY THE WORLD THINKS ABOUT LEARNING DIFFERENCES.    Here's the link for Resolution 50.
